Filming at the Lake Placid Olympic Center: A Surreal Skating Experience

Filming at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in New York for the 2025 World Figure and Fancy Skating Championship was an experience I will never forget.

The event took place over multiple days, and Day 1 and Day 2 were truly captivating. From the precision of the skaters to the elegance of their movements on the ice, every performance felt like a blend of athleticism and art. Being behind the camera in a venue with such historic Olympic significance made the experience even more meaningful.

Before the event, I reached out to the Lake Placid Olympic organizers via email to ask for permission to take photos during the championship. Ever since I was young, I’ve been deeply intrigued by filming and photographing events like this — moments where discipline, emotion, and storytelling naturally come together. Having the opportunity to document even a part of this championship felt like a personal milestone.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend Day 3 of the event due to a prior commitment — a wedding filming shoot in New Jersey. While it was disappointing to miss the final day, the time I spent filming during the first two days was more than enough to leave a lasting impression.

Overall, the experience was surreal. Capturing world-class athletes in motion inside an Olympic venue reminded me why I chose this path as a filmmaker. Moments like these reinforce my passion for visual storytelling and motivate me to continue documenting events that celebrate talent, dedication, and human expression.

I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to capturing more events like this in the future.
